My Commitment to Inclusivity
“As a neurodivergent business owner myself I understand this can bring a specific set of challenges when working with other people, in a world that is often set up for neurotypicals”
I am passionate and committed to improving inclusive practice in my business.
I myself have ADHD and have been a carer for family members with invisible and visible disabilities. I spent nearly two years working for a visual impairment charity, often the first point of call for people seeking support following sightloss. I spent a lot of time supporting, advocating and acting as a sighted guide. My personal experiences of how much there is still left to do both in my personal and professional life has fuelled my passion for inclusivity. I want to contribute to making the world more inclusive and accessible for all.
I work with everyone from all backgrounds and genders. I’m a fierce ally of all communities including people who are neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ and Global Majority communities. I’m committed to making sure that my practices, and my space feels safe for you to be yourself and that you feel heard. I am dedicated to using inclusive language and ensuring there is diverse representation in the copy I create. As part of my commitment to active allyship, I will highlight any marketing practices where you might be falling down in terms of inclusivity.
I will only work with those who align with my inclusive values. I will not tolerate any hate or discrimination that contradicts these values then I reserve the right to end my relationship with you (this is written into our contract).
Being neuro-inclusive means being accepting of both neurodivergent and neurotypical needs and this can include those with mental health diagnoses and people who identify as being highly sensitive.
This is not an exhaustive list of my commitments nor is it a ‘tick list’ as I’m always open to understanding and learning more and regularly review my practices. As a result I am always open to feedback and learning more. If you find there is anything you are unable to access on the website or through working with me or you feel I can improve in any way around inclusion and accessibility, you can contact me by email on hello@sammilburndigitalmarketing.com or please feel free to DM me or voicenote me on my Instagram www.instagram.com/sammilburndigitalmarketing
